Another possibility is that you can thank those who buy your products at the time that they do so. There are many possibilities.

The fourth reason is that you can segment your message. Let's say you have five lists. Each is for a different group of people. Some might be prospects who have been through one email campaign, but not another. Another list might be just for customers. Now let's say that you want to send out a message to those who are on three of those lists. You can do that by selecting the ones that you want and omitting the ones you don't. This is an effective way to avoid sending emails, that ask those who are customers already, to buy something they already have,.

The last reason is that you can reorder your messages. Over time, you'll find that some messages are more effective when they are sent at a different time in your campaign than you first thought. Autoresponders allow you to change the order that they are sent.

In undemocratic countries the opposition start the game lacking several pieces that in turn extends the time period and causes inaction on part of the opposition paralysing their positions. Once the opposition can support a full board their chances are evened.

In democratic countries the surprise forage by the opposition can quickly put the King in check and depending on the position of the Queen, checkmate, thus a change of power or Government. Another such action would be the loss of the Rooks and Bishops in support leaving the limited resources of the Knights. A coalition would be like playing with an extra back line they would need a long time extension causing an overcrowded board and confusion in movement. The Queens' in particular would have to know their moves and to play in conjunction. Finding the right moves would make them a formidable force but this could be wrecked by too many Rooks, Knights and Bishops. This crowded board could cause inaction or a step forward into danger.

The pawns have nearly wiped each other out as they move up the board. The Queens rallying support for their Kings try to out manoeuvre their opposition. One King, a venture capitalist, represents big business and needs to control his pawns. The beliefs of this King are in a financial bottom line policy, and he will use his Queen to take opposition pawns off the board.

The other King who won the last game has a struggling Queen. He needs more time to help make his strategies work. His rooks, Knights and Bishops need to be stronger and work harder. Pawns are a way forward and will be protected not sacrificed needlessly.

The other day I received a call from a telemarketer selling a website "starter kit" for small businesses. If you are reading this right now, then you undoubtedly know that I have a website. Normally, I would quickly get the telemarketer off the line so I could get back to showing people how to make more money. But this call got my attention because I thought that this might be a potential service that I could recommend to my clients. So I decided to listen to this sales pitch to evaluate the offering and the approach that the telemarketer used.

Well the rep started by going straight into a sales pitch. She was using the age-old technique of trying to complete her benefits-loaded-sales-pitch before I knew what hit me. This technique is very similar to television, radio, or print advertising where if you show your ad to enough people with a pulse, then you will eventually find a few people who actually need the service.

Instead of getting annoyed with the sales rep, I decided to have fun with the call. Once she was done with her somewhat lengthy pitch, I asked her "Do you have any idea what I even want?" Well of course, she did not because she had not asked me a single question. I could tell during her pitch that she was tense by the sound of her voice. So I started to ask her questions about the service. She answered my questions very well. I noticed by her voice that she was getting more relaxed and comfortable by my asking questions of her. I guessed that she likely was thinking that she had a buyer or a hot-prospect on the line.

Once I had asked enough questions, I told the rep that this service was not for me as I already have my own website (through the conversation, she never asked this critical, obvious question). I told her that I would keep her service in mind for clients that might need a website starter kit. I could tell that she was distressed. She tried a final closing attempt on me by pleading "Well, don't you want to at least try it out?" I said "No way - do you have any idea what a pain the a%$ changing web hosting services is?"

Lest you think of me as cruel for wasting this poor sales rep's time, I remind you that as buyers we do this to salespeople everyday when we consider making a purchase. Have you ever asked many questions of a salesperson only to go home, think over the decision, and then never buy the product? Many salespeople and entrepreneurs put up with this behavior from prospects because they exhibit this behavior themselves when making purchases.

QUESTION: Who was in control of the sales call? ANSWER: The prospect (me). QUESTION: Why didn't I buy? ANSWER: Because I had no pain that the service could fulfill.

If the seller had followed these 3 simple rules, she could have been on to the next suspect on her list, instead of wasting 20 minutes on a no-sale conversation:

Ask questions first to find a pain to solve. If no pain, then move one to the next suspect! Don't give away free consulting. Keep your leverage until you know that the prospect is likely to buy your product or service. When you find pain, leverage this to make the sale. People will pay a lot of money for the things that they really want.

Too many companies don't invest in the best for their sales-people. They expect you to be already trained in sales or a "natural". Well naturals aren't born, they are made. If your company isn't investing in you, then invest in yourself. People who truly make things happen, are willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want.

A Few Great Hidden San Diego Restaurants, According to a Boston Restaurant Reviewer

So it looks like another weekend of heavy rain in Boston. This is, what, the 7th or 8th weekend in a row with rain? I love Boston, but this is ridiculous.

With the rain, my daydreams of San Diego, CA, seem to keep popping up more and more (call it California dreaming). The other night, I was listening to a great rock station from Encinitas on Internet radio. It got me to thinking about Encinitas, where my cousins used to live before they moved up the coast to La Costa.

One of my favorite restaurants in Encinitas is the 101 Diner. Located about 4 blocks from my favorite beach in the world (Moonlight Beach), the 101 Diner has everything, from great breakfast and lunch entrees to outdoor seating to a friendly, all-around nice guy of an owner. Almost as good, and just down the street, is Kim's Restaurant, which has terrific Vietnamese food. Better yet, neither of these restaurants is well-known (if you have looked at the site I founded, Boston's Hidden Restaurants, you would know I have a thing for great restaurants that haven't been discovered).

Heading south toward San Diego, another memorable, but little-known, restaurant can be found in beautiful Cardiff-by-the-Sea. Pipes Cafe is a breakfast spot that is mainly frequented by surfers and Cardiff residents looking to show up late to work (word is, Trevor Hoffman, the great reliever for the San Diego Padres, is also a regular here). Pipes has fantastic breakfast plates, and the dining outdoors on the patio is a must.

As you continue down the coast, you come to artsy Solana Beach, home to Fidel's, which is fairly well-known, and for good reason; Fidel's may be the best Mexican restaurant north of San Diego (though I have my personal favorite, which I'll mention in a minute). Fidel's is tough to find, since it's hidden in a neighborhood away from the ocean, but worth seeking out.

Just before you reach San Diego, you hit La Jolla, a tony community that seems to have more investment places than restaurants. I like La Jolla, though, with its spectacular downtown park above the ocean cliffs, and its narrow, crooked lanes. Just south of the center of La Jolla is a little restaurant called Bahia Don Bravo. The owners of this authentic Mexican restaurant have a few branches in San Diego, but this one is special, since you can order the food to go and walk a few blocks down a side street to one of the most spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean that you will ever see. And there is even a bench where the view is, so you can eat in relative comfort. Bahia Don Bravo has the type of Mexican food that you just can't find in Boston. I always go there when traveling to San Diego, and always miss it when I'm back in Boston.

Finally, you reach the wonderful city of San Diego. Where to go for food? Well, there are too many great places to mention here. A couple of standouts are Point Loma Seafood, with its memorable view of the city across the harbor, and the Coyote Cafe in Old Town. But my favorite is a little hamburger joint in Ocean Beach called Hodad's, which is where I had the best cheeseburger I have had anywhere in the country (and I've had a lot of cheeseburgers!). Juicy, thick, hearty, and smothered in cheese, the burgers here are impossibly good. Hodad's is truly amazing.

Well, I guess my daydream of eating my way through San Diego is about done. As I look out my window and see the skyline of Boston, I realize that I do live in a great city. I just wish it wouldn't rain so much.
